New Bike

These few weeks, I have been thinking which bike to buy to replace my damaged bike. There are so many choices out there. Pinarello FP3 ($4.9K), Cervelo P2C ($5.3K0 and Orbea Ora($4.2K)....and so on.

I would say it is a pretty messy affair....But I need a bike to get back to my usual life...If I know this is going to be a messy affair, I wouldn't want to be involved in that stupid accident...

Traffic Accident

Hai.......Unfortunately, I met an road traffic accident while riding my bike.  An Audi R8, SJG779G hit me from behind on 1/10/2008 at about 10.12am.

I was on my way to Tuas To meet my fellow cyclists, but before I could make it, I met an accident at the Junction of Changi Road and Frankie Avenue.  The driver was pretty nasty.

Now, I am worry about my claims.  I have suffered in pain due to lose of skin and flesh on my 2 fingers and live with multiple abrasion. What a painful experience.

Call that driver about my claims yet he threw the phone.  What an irresponsible driver!

F1 Fever

So excited......During Friday swiming class, I performed badly. I had a sensation of a stomach 'pull'. This is the second time I felt uncomfortable to swim in this situation. Till today, I could not understand why there is a 'pull'.

When straight home after class and took a light dinner. By 10pm, I was glue to the TV set. First ever live telecast of the F1 race in Singapore. Because friday is only a practices session, you can witnessed that most of the sitting on the grand stand are pretty empty.

Saturday programme was packed. Drop my dear at Bishan for her organ lesson and I head up to Daniel Cheng's son 'full-month' celebration at Yishun. Having to meet some of the Sgrunners, but I was like alien to them. Did not really talk much lah....

Pickup Dear and headed down to Marina Square to watch live F1 action at Bay grandstand. It was wonderful to hear those engines roar. The loudness cannot be decript in words. I have never hear something this loud in my entire life. This roaring could make your heart pump faster, hehehe. Dear dear was too excited to hear those engine roar. The speed of these F1 cars is simply fast, too fast for even a glance.

But the upset is we are stuck in a traffic jam inside Suntec city carpark for more than an hour before get home at 1.00am. Worth it!!!

Sunday, Went for another quick run in the evening. Same distance at 6.5KM timming: 38.40mins. Ok lah...The rest of the night was glue onto teh TV set for the F1 final.

What A Week!

What a week I had. I have been swimming for almost everyday. Tuesday, lunch time, managed to swim for 20 laps. Wednesday, another 20 laps. The funny thing is, I met coach at SAFRA Tampines pool during lunch time.

He said,"Ah.....Caught you liao. Now I know what you have been doing." Hehehehe...While do my laps, I did managed to observe Coach. Wah....the way he swam is like shark!!! Powerful yet Smooth like silk.

Thursday lunch, another 22 laps. Eveninga 6.5km run. Timing: 38mins. Not too bad. Today, swimming lesson in the evening and plan for a simple ride. Tomorrow, interesting day ahead for F1 race.

Another Interesting Weekend

Wow....Interesting weekend I had. As usual, Saturday was shopping the whole day at vivocity with my wife. We had a wonderful dinner in 'Dian Xiao Er'.

Sunday was the turning point of a interesting end. It is very rare of my wife to ask me out for breakfast on Sunday. After debating what to have for breakfast, we decided to have it at Bedok Interchange foodcentre.

After breakfast, I have to sent her back home while I continued my way for my open sea swim at Changi Ferry Terminal. Arrived at almost 11 am for the swim. By the time coach deployed the bouy, it was really 11.25pm.

During that time, we (classmate) chatted and shared our pass experience in open water swim. I declared to them that I am not a open water fellow but came here to build up my courage and makes the numbers....Hahaha..

At the starting point, we have to swim out 50m in the open sea to simulate the Fina swim start in the water. This will also avoid fishing lines further down the shore. Coach said, 'Everyone at least 1 lap.' Eh......I can't ever spot the bouy so how far is that floating bouy??? No body knows.

Starting to paddle. I did not worried or panic. Metalilty was just swim loh. Going towards the bouy was simple. Coming back was like 'How far am I away from teh shoreline.' Because, I only take my breath to the left side...So have to stop many times to check my position. I do want to swim until tekong. Hahaha.....

Completed my first lap. Helen 'chio' me for the second lap. Surprisingly, this little 'Iron-woman' (She completed her aviva ironman) told me to sight her as she is frighten of the sea. Huh....I shouted, "You ok or not, I never even do any open water competition swim, you tell me to guard you?' You ok, or not???

Anyway, I am also alittle 'gain' to go for another loop. All in all 2 loops. While chit-chatting in the middle of the open sea with coach, someone told us that the distance is about 460m for 1 loop. Huh.....I finished 2 loops, that is almost 1.8km. In my heart, I asked myself sure or not.

Coach asked me to sign up for the 3km FINA swim on 4 October, if not, I will have to pay him today fees (in a joking manner lah). Till today, I am still very unsure.

Swimming session ended almost 1pm. Rushed home to bath, dress up, quick lunch and I am out of the house at 1.30pm. (Transition, T1) Drove to wisma Aria for my photography lesson by organised by Sony. Class started at 2pm. Vincent (my best pal) already reserved a table for me. Thanks buddy.

The lesson was very interesting and useful. Julian w. shared certain tips and experiences in photography skills. By the end of the lesson, we kind of, fall in love with our DSLR camera.

Vincent 'chio' me for the masters class for photography, I have greed to. We have a short chit-chat session at 'food junction' before I send him off to Ang Mo kio to meet up with his wife, Yi Tian.

Reach home at 6.10pm, my wife was waiting for me to go for a run. Another transition to running attire and started to hammer the road for another 7km. (chop-chop one). I enjoyed running with my wifey. She is a fast runner now....Good keep up the good pace.

Hoping that my next weekend will be another interesting one.

Siao ah??!!

Sunday, don't know what went wrong with me. Till today, I am still seaching for an answer. Maybe really siao liao.

Work up in the morning, felt tried. But I dragged myself out of bed and had 2 half boiled egg, compliment it with 2 slices of bread and drove off for a swim at Safra Tampines. First time swimming in the morning. In my mind, I fixed at minimum 40 laps, non-stop. (that's my 'usual' requirement) But went on until 50 laps. Felt ok leh. So my mind told me, lets do 50 laps today, but went on swimming till 60laps.

During the swimming I have noticed that everytime when I hit the end wall, I see new faces. Perhaps, I have spend a longer time in pools. Family, couples and swimmers came, they swam and they have left, yet I am still swimming.

Not satisfy by just 60 laps, I went on to 70 laps. By the time I completed and said enough, I hit 70 laps (3.5km) non stop swim. Out from the pool, I felt fresh leh, no pain at all. This is crazy!!! Ordeal started from 10.10am until 11.45am. This is possible.

I remember I used to envy someone telling me that his usual laps was 50. I will go 'WOW' that's impossible, because I had never thought of doing 50laps, and yet yesterday a 70 laps.....Now I believe that 50 just easy. Hahahaha....

When home took a light lunch and watch TV loh. Nice to have school holiday......2 more weeks before school start. Took a power nap about 1 hour and alarm goes off at 4.00pm, which I had set earlier. Bright sunny evenning good for a LSD. Went for my LSD at 4.30pm with my 2XU visor and nike running pouch. The bloody weather was so warm.

By the time I make a U-turn at Singa Inn, light rain came and started hammering my visor liao. Continue my way back home. A total of 70 laps in the pool (non-stop) and a 18km run. (in hot sun and heavy rain)

Went home thought of taking my wife out for a walk with her lantern, but the rain did not stop till 9.30pm. Tried putting myself to sleep but could not managed till 11.30pm.

Today, went I woke up, my wife told be 'Look at your face, like red face ghost.' I started to stared into the mirror and yes my face is like a otah.....So red and burn. Hahaha...

I think I have gone crazy yesterday. But it can be done. I am proud of myself.

Struggling

For the pass 2 months, I have been struggling hard to keep up with work, study, family and sport. It was an up hill task for me tossing between 4 choices.

Osim Triathlon ended in a merrier tone this year. Reason, my overall result improve as compare to last year result. Thanks to my swimming coach, Alex. Nevertheless, my wife supported me at the race site throughout the event. Thanks Dear dear!!!

AHM was my first DNS race in my life. Hehehehe. Woke up in the morning but did not feel any rush to race so gave up and continued my journey to dreamland.

Felt alittle stress and pressure for my examination because, I have done pretty well for the first paper. Insist in keeping up my standard so put in extra effort to do well.

Swimming lesson begin to took a turn in my life. I begain to fall in love in swimming. Now I am able to swim free-style non-stop for 50 laps in 1 hr and 15 mins. An acheivement which I never thought that I could do it.

As suggested by coach, now is to improve my speed and increase the distance to 2.5km or 3km. This will better prepare me for ironman race.

Here are my targets;
1) Score well in my thesis
2) Do well in y last paper in January 2009.
3) Cycle hard (try to beat brother jodan).
4) Swim hard
5) Complete SCM 2008
6) Complete 70.3 Ironman in March

My Father

My father is a respectable man. Yesterday while driving back to office from Panasonic warehouse, I made a detour to mandai.

Spend a few good minutes looking at my father 'block' 02-06-334. My heart sank.......Paying respect to my father only reminds me about those days where my father used to smile and talked to me......Those were the days and it will never come back again.

Driving on the expressway, I keep thinking of those days when I was much younger. It make me wana breakdown.

Good bye and farewell to my father. You will rest in peace and lord will take good care of you since you have taken good care of your friends and family!!

Hm......

I am contemplating whether to continue to blog. My emotions for the last one month was like a roller-coster ride with more down slops, infact. Let's not talk about sports or exercise for a moment.

Do some reflections on my beloved father.......I cannot be left alone for now or else my mind will start to think and wonder back on that very day when I claimed my father's body back from Batam......

My father have left us behind...........I hope that he will be happy with lord......I really miss him!!....

Up Date

I have not been blogging for almost 2 months. Busy with work and study schedule. Somehow examination just over and now I am enjoying my so-call 'short holiday'. Well, for a start, I better start preparing for my thesis paper. 10,000 words is not a joke!!

Sundown Marathon was held on 31 May 2008. Attended the race without much training and mileage coverage was low. But the event turn out to be quite fun. This was also the first time I am meeting friends from Sgrunners forum.

To my surprised, Jodan aka Daniel Cheng, registered us as 'Sgrunners Team Alpha' which was printed onto our race bib. It was like, huh...representing the forum for the run??? Kind of shy off maybe because I am still not a good runner. Hehehe.....

Linla and I completed the 10.5km run at 1h 16min. But accordingly to brother Ah Cheng (Daniel Cheng aka Jodan) the actual distance should be about 10.7 to 10.8 km.

This coming weekend, another race is waiting for us, the SAAB City Duathlon. This is one tough and demanding race that I have experienced. Last year, I nearly did not make it to the finish line. Hehehe....

Anyway, hopefully, this year it will make a different!!! Hope lah....With all the hardship training in running and cycling, I hope that Linla and me will not be the last one to cross the finish line.

Last but not least, I have to thank Linla for giving me such a big big present on my birhday. Thank you my dearest wife, Linda. Now I am in a fix, because I have to plan something that 'Big' for you as well. Hahahaha...

Thank you Linla once again!

Welcome home!! 16-03-2008

At last, Linla is back at home!!! I woke up at 4.28am and start to prepare to head for the airport. But the arrival time is at 6.02pm. Nevermind lah, I was too happy liao. Kind of miss her so much.

Once landed, we went to have our breakfast, 2 bowls of 'ba choi mee' and 1 bowl of 'prawn noodle'. Went home to unpack those stuff and took a power nap. By noon, we are out of the house for our shopping trip at Vivocity, which I miss so much! We went for a movie "The Leap Year", starting Wong Li-Lin. Well not a bad show. The story content is good for a local production. Watch it!

Keeping the flame alive

Today, class ends at 9.00pm. Thought go through my mind, should I go riding with L&T. If they set out at 8.30pm, I should be able to catch them somewhere between east coast park or fort road. Or, should I just go to Rav4 expedition meeting?

After weighting, tossing and much consideration, I made up my mind to join the ride. By 9.15pm, I reached home and conducted a "change parade". By 9.30pm, I am reach in east coast park lagoon hawker centre. 15 minutes to drive myself from school campus (city) to home (east coast) 5 minutes to change and preparing my bike. 10 mins to reach lagoon. I am crazy!!!

Chief Raja waited for me at lagoon and we started pedalling to west coast hawker centre. It wasn't west coast park, but pretty close to Pandan reservoir. The ride was fun with a big group of riders which was hard to miss.

Are you lonesome tonight?

I am so bloody lonely. Linla will not at home for the whole of next week. She has gone to New Zealand for a paid trip by the ministry. I really envy her because out of the 8 days trip, she only needs to 'work' 2 days. The rest are Rest and Recreational activities.

I am so boring. Everyday, I locked myself inside the room. Suddenly, the room become so 'cold.'
Somehow, I miss her nagging...... When couples are seperated with a distance, they tend to think of the other party more often. Everyday, I will wait for her call back and that is when you see my face is busting with smile.

I am dying for her to come back asap. So sad!

Hunting for new bike

Well, today another interest update. During divison meeting (SEAM), my department managed to save up to $250k apart from begining spending 83% of the total budgeted amount in 2007 of $1.5mil. Not bad to impress my big boss.

We had our valentine's Day dinner last week at Vivo City, thus no special arrangement yesterday night. I was surprised that my wife brought me cookies, hmmmm.Yummy!!! I love cookies! Of course not forgetting the 'Otak' from the famous 'Lee and Wee Brothers.'

I bought her a polo T-shirt, but she may changed for some others top back at the shop during this weekend.

After dinner, we begain our hunt for her new bike. Went over to T3 Bike Gears. It was closed for the day, so we decided to swing over to Roadalink as well as Sin Chew Hin (SCH). She is still contemplating which bike to go for. Now its either the Scott Speedster 50 (upgrade to shimano 105) or Trek 2.1 WSD. Stay tune.

Busy or just plan lazy

Hahaha. It has been almost a month I have not update my blog. So many things pop up within that one month. Celebration of Chinese New Year blah blah blah.....All excusses....Hehehe...

For the pass one month, I managed to cycle with the L&T riders and one of those rides, my lovely wife came along with us to Seletar Dam. Her riding skills have improved and my team mates even compliment her. I felt good too, after all I am her riding 'shifu'...Proud liao.

Riding mates have suggested her to change her bike so that she can be strong, fast and smoother. Well, she did!!! Now eyeing on either a Trek or Specialized.

Last month, I start my swimming lesson with 'sea monters'. My swimming coach Alex Lim have somehow corrected by free style stroke. Now I am faster and smoother. It was money well spend. www.singaporemasterswimming.com Hopefully, by the time this year Osim Triathlon, I can be in the middle pack of the wave.

Lastly, I am back to school on every Tuesday and Friday to finish up my (Hon) paper. I have to 'tahan' for just one year and I be free.

Round Island

11th January 2008, decided to go for a ride with the L&T team. Meet the rest of the group at Tampines. After a short briefing, we head up to the north.
Our first pit-stop was at Seletar, Yishun dam. Ben (new rider) from Bishan joined the group. I saw a group of runners running towards Seletar Country Club and that reminds me of tonight Prata Run organised by Sgrunners. Rode over to greed them. I introduced myself to them and they seems to acknowledge me.Hehehe.
Next destination was Woodlands Checkpoint. We went over to one of the coffee shop for some night snack. Since it is quite late (11.30pm), most of the stalls are already closed. Given no choice, I have a bowl of Mee Soto to fill my stomach.
After our meal, a final briefing was made by emilhan. We have changed the route to a Round Island ride. Hehehe. Sounds interesting. Here are the route we took.
Woodlands--->Kranji dam--->Neo Tian---> Lim Chu Kang--->Jln Boon Lay--->West Coast Highway--->Keppel Road--->Shenton Way--->Nicoll Highway--->East Coast--->Upper East Coast Road. Total 110km.

Back to Normal

The first working day of the year, have to wake up early again. Before I could step out of the house, my maid told me, "Today everything is back to normal." Yea! Back to normal time table liao. No more nau-ing on the bed before going to work.

It seems like everyone in the office have a 'cold start.' Maybe its due to those merry time they had over those festive mood. Infact, we only need to work just 3 days this week, then its weekend. I think most of the 'engines' need more time to warm up. Hehehe..

Ended my first day of work with a 8km run.

To me, the festive sessions is all over, but wait a minute, we still have a Chinese New Year to come by.

New Year 2008

Well, to begain with, I end my year 2007 with a short 9 days tour. For straight 3 weeks after SCM 2007, I did not make any effort to run. During Christmas Eve, we had a small gathering at home with friends. It was here where the 'makan' session begain since then.

But I did managed to run a 7 km on 27/12/2007 together with my wife. We put our pair of 'rusty' legs into run mode again, it was so painful to start after all those rest.

We ashered the New Year at the Marina Bay countdown party. Started to 'camp' along the bay at 5.00pm. By 8.00pm, the whole bay was full of cheers. The fireworks display was fantastic even it is only for 8 minutes. By the time we gat home it was already 2.00am.

Started the brand new year with a short training programme. Cycle for 60km and went for a 20 laps swim in the pool. Evening, we went to Plaza Singapura for a simple dinner at Thai Express and do a little shopping. By 10pm, I was so tired and slept a dead log till this morning.

As for Year 2008, there are so many race to choose and pick from, but because of the high registration fee, I have to be purdent on my spending. Last but not least, I hope that I can swim better this year and conquer the fear of open sea swim.
