Army Half Marathon 2007

The day before Army Half Marathon (AHM), I was busy in Linla's school help out with all the decoration as well as fixing up new furnitures which they have bought it from Ikea.

The whole afternoon from 1.00pm till 7.00pm in evening, I was running around the entire school without much rest, so is my wife.

I thought, tomorrow is the race, why am I not resting enough for the BIG day, which is tomorrow. By the time it end, I forgot have yet to buy all my stuff, bananas, bread, powerGel and 100 plus etc. So have have to step out of the house and start looking for all these items. Lucky enough, I managed to get all these within the next hour.

8.15pm, dinner time. My wife and I decided to forgo shopping (normally on a Saturday evening) and we suggest to cook 'Magie Mee' for dinner. After dinner, we continue to watch the 'Super Star final' until almost 11.00pm. We turned in for the night. I have told her that if her is too tried, I will go for the AHM by myself so that she could continue to sleep soundly on a Sunday morning.

Sunday, woke up at 3.30am. She woke up too. I told her to get some sleep if she is tried, but insist that she want to go. 5.10am, we are at the start line. Went to teh flag pole to look for jodan but he is not there. Met fun-nam from FJC while forming-up at the starting chute. 5.30am sharp, the horn sounded. The run start!!! I made a detour to the 'Lau Pak Sai' food centre toilet to release some 'water' Hehehehe...We continued our run.

My wife request me to run ahead of her. It was only after several requests, I started to break away from her pace, but told her to keep onto the left so that I could spot her at the 10km mark. 10km: 1h 15mins.

I decided to move on to another site to wait for her since the 10km mark is so cramp. At the 14.5km mark along the Fort Road, I waited for her at the bus stop. While waiting for her, I have helped 3 young gentleman to ease their cramps on their lower part of their legs. 10 mins in the waiting, my lovely wife appeared. I decided to run along with her. 16km, she broke down and started walking, so I also did the same lor. Walk with her! We hold our hands 'macham' like going for some shooping trip. Hehehe.
She got a cramp at about 17km mark. I spotted the medic and tell him that my wife needs to apply some medication to ease the cuff. We decided to walk all the way to Republic Avenue, I started to run again. But returned for her so that we could finished it together. Time: 3hrs ++

She was very disappointed as her PB was 2hr 40mins, 2006. But I told her that she was brave to have complete it since she never had a proper run since Dualthon in May. Me too, I did not ever train for it....But we are glad!!! After collecting the medals and goodies bags, she complained about hunger, we left the venue to have our breakfast at Chomp Chomp market, A good plate of 'mice pork mee', 'Roti John' and 2 glasses of ice-milo 'peng'. serve as a good reward. Then is shooping time!!!

2 More Days to AHM (U-turn Point So Far!)

Well Friday, hands and legs got itchy. So took a drive down East Coast Park to check on the actual Army Half Marathon U-turn point. As descript by my friend, Jodan, the U-turn point should be before the Police Post located near the Macdonald's.

But Sad to say, the teh U-turn point is located after the East Coast Macdonalds. Well, think so much, still have to run right?! Hopefully, the weather is be all right for tomorrow morning.

When walking towards my baby Rav4, spotted this nice location of the Aviava Ironman 70.3 poster, So take a shot loh.

3 More Days to AHM

Tuesday, woke up very early in the morning, but it was raining so took the excuss not to run. Hehehehe.

During Lunch time, guilty set in, so pack my bags and head out to SAFRA Tampines for a swim. Did 12 laps in total. Met a friend whom used to play squash with Larry, but Larry also 'disappear' liao. He taugh me on some correction stroke of my front crawl style. At 1345 hrs, I head back to the office.

Wednesday, try to go for a swim in the afternoon, but once I drove 'Wildfire' out of the office gate, it started to rain again. Hai......Nevertheless, things wasn't that bad, I managed to go for a very very very slow run last evening. Like 3.3km took me about 25mins. I told myself that this will be teh last run, I need to just keep my legs warm for the race. So I control my pace and keep telling myself not to 'jiong'.

After the run, I wasn't even breathing fast, like normal loh. Only managed to sweat. My running shorts wasn't wet at all. Hehehe.....But I should say, my legs are now more firm and ready to go!

I have to ask myself, 'You sure you ready to go?'.....Hehehe....Today, tomorrow and the day after, I will wear my running shoes to work as to suit the feet until the last day.

Shopping Night & Fire Works

At last, my wife and I managed to do some shopping on Saturday Afternoon. But before that, we have a good lunch at 'House of Brani'. I did enjoyed my lunch, but my wife said she have got somewhere better. Is at Race Course Road. Nevertheless, we shall visit that place some time.

Shopping, shopping and Shopping along Orchard Road. It was like we ave never been to Orchard Road for many many months. 'Since when'. Parked our baby at Wisma and started to walk from 2.00pm all the way till 8.00pm. By then, she have bought a piece of clothes at South heaven. As for me, as usual, nothing lah. I just enjoyed the walk, crowd and of course the dinner finale at Food Repulic. We have, Fried Prawn Mee, Rojak, Fried Fish Mee and some 'light' - 4 baskets of dim sum. Heeee. Sinful huh??

By 8.20pm, we hurried out way to watch the fire works at the Marina Bay again. Yes, again. I like fire works!!! Caught in a bad bad massive jam along Market Street. But we managed to drive through the jame without much problem.

While we reached the Raffles Quay area, the jame was to bad, until the traffic come to a standstill. Really, standstill. My wife made a judement call to turn towards Raffles Cit/ Suntec City. We managed to park along the road side and run towards the fire works site.

Guess what, I saw one of the Traffic Police, armed with a VCR capturing cars reistration numbers of those parking by the road side. I ran fast bck to my car and started to drive off loh. 'Kia sie' what!!! If kena means, $120 compound fine and 6 demerit points reducted. Not worth right?

We did not catch much actions but go home feeling happy because we have already got a fun fill day.

Fire Works

Yesterday night was fill with shining sparks. My wife worn nice dress that sparkers like stars to attend her Teachers' Day Dinner at Furama City hotel. She won the title of Miss Accessories in her school. Not too bad huh?

After Sending her to the hotel, i head to the city to catch some fire works. Lucky for me, I was not caught in the massive traffic jam towards the city. I managed to be friend with a Site Supervisor from The Sail. Guess what, he allow me to park my baby Rav4 inside the new "Marina Bay Finaical Centre' commonly known as 'The Sail' cnstruction site. Lucky huh? Maybe my 'lau kapo' helps.

So, I need not pay a single cent for car park and do not need to worry about 'Uncle Sam' aka 'White ants' or ' Tourist that wear white uniform only takes photograph on the bridge' - Traffic Police. There were hell lots of them along the One Raffle Quay and Hong Kong Land building.

The view was nice, unobstructed and yet cooling. Some of the people even bought chairs & table or floor mat to start their picnic there. Drinks, makan everything their can bring along. Like see show like that loh...

One unlucky event took a turn, I did not bring along a tripod for my camera. Tried many shots before the event to see how steady my hands are, but teh shots are like. Shit over the skys. Nevertheless, I did took some nice one and will upload these nicer shots later! Stay Tune!!

At Last, I Commit a Run

Well, enough is enough! I have slacked down with hell lots of reasons for the pass 2 weeks for not running. I had promiss my colleauge to attend the badminton session at the Tampines Indoor Hall, which is organise by our company, last evening. Ended up, I did not attend but nevertheless, I did managed to 'pull' myself to go for a run.

Reach home at about 7.20pm after sending my wife to attend some matter, I decided to go for a run. I have only one and a half hours to complete the my usual running route (with cool down session) which seems reasonable. Started my run at 7.26pm.

Well, It was like I have not been running for the pass 2 weeks. It was tough for a start. But gain momentum after hitting about 1 km. I tried hard to fought with my thought of giving up, 'Why suffer? Should I take a bus home?' (I always have a dollar coin with me for every run in my pocket).

After running and running, I was able to maintain the posture and pace. Well, I should said I have a good run. Distance: 6.9km time taken: 40.21sec.

Not too bad but can be better the 'next time round'. Took my dinner together with my wife at almost 9.20pm. Took something that add on to my calorie, Fried Rice!! So just now run one, all liao liao!

I do have a good day isn't it?

The Run That Did Not Materialised

Cham ah!!!

Yesterday, did have my lunch time swim at SAFRA Tampines. Complete a total of 8 laps. I thought, evening will be good for a run, but due to work commitment, only managed to reach home about 7.40pm. Anyway still can run what!!! But I was lazy. Slept early and thought the next morning can wake up early for a short run.

But.......It did not materialised again. I have been bluffing myself!!! How to over come this fault of mine? Well just plain lazy loh......No one to blame.

Today pay day!!! I was happy at first, but after paying all my debts, hai!!! Still in the red can cannot afford some 'extra' for my bike....Thought of changing the 'bull horn' Triathlon handle bar with a Tria areobar. Looks like, I will have to wait for a few months liao. SAD!!!! Happy, I cleared my debts, that's more important!!

Hi, Morning! This will be my very own blog. I will try to update as regular as possible.

To start off with, Kuala Lumpur trip last weekend. My wife, Linla and I went to KL trip with 2 of our new friends, Vincent and Yi Tian. This is my wife and I first trip with our new 'baby' - Rav4 aka Wild fire.

The car never disappoint me as I could reach the speed of 170km/h. The only down side is the road noise. We visited 1 utama, Mutiara Damasara, this is our first time visiting this shopping mall. It's huge!!! I nearly got lost. Checked into the hotel, Renaissance KL at about 5.30pm.

We wne to BukitBintang, Outback for our dinner. I was nice, especially the soup and fried chicken. Thereafter, we took a LRT back to the hotel.

On Sunday, we went for a swim. Vincent 'siong' tried to collect my front crawl swimming technics. Wah la, now I can sim better. Hehehe. We also head for the Steam bath. We leave for shopping at KLCC and took our nice 'branch' at Madam Kwan' which was very ver nice, but a little pricy.

Leave KL at about 6.45pm and get back to 'motherland' at 10.15pm.
