The day before Army Half Marathon (AHM), I was busy in Linla's school help out with all the decoration as well as fixing up new furnitures which they have bought it from Ikea.
The whole afternoon from 1.00pm till 7.00pm in evening, I was running around the entire school without much rest, so is my wife.
I thought, tomorrow is the race, why am I not resting enough for the BIG day, which is tomorrow. By the time it end, I forgot have yet to buy all my stuff, bananas, bread, powerGel and 100 plus etc. So have have to step out of the house and start looking for all these items. Lucky enough, I managed to get all these within the next hour.
8.15pm, dinner time. My wife and I decided to forgo shopping (normally on a Saturday evening) and we suggest to cook 'Magie Mee' for dinner. After dinner, we continue to watch the 'Super Star final' until almost 11.00pm. We turned in for the night. I have told her that if her is too tried, I will go for the AHM by myself so that she could continue to sleep soundly on a Sunday morning.
Sunday, woke up at 3.30am. She woke up too. I told her to get some sleep if she is tried, but insist that she want to go. 5.10am, we are at the start line. Went to teh flag pole to look for jodan but he is not there. Met fun-nam from FJC while forming-up at the starting chute. 5.30am sharp, the horn sounded. The run start!!! I made a detour to the 'Lau Pak Sai' food centre toilet to release some 'water' Hehehehe...We continued our run.
My wife request me to run ahead of her. It was only after several requests, I started to break away from her pace, but told her to keep onto the left so that I could spot her at the 10km mark. 10km: 1h 15mins.
I decided to move on to another site to wait for her since the 10km mark is so cramp. At the 14.5km mark along the Fort Road, I waited for her at the bus stop. While waiting for her, I have helped 3 young gentleman to ease their cramps on their lower part of their legs. 10 mins in the waiting, my lovely wife appeared. I decided to run along with her. 16km, she broke down and started walking, so I also did the same lor. Walk with her! We hold our hands 'macham' like going for some shooping trip. Hehehe.
She got a cramp at about 17km mark. I spotted the medic and tell him that my wife needs to apply some medication to ease the cuff. We decided to walk all the way to Republic Avenue, I started to run again. But returned for her so that we could finished it together. Time: 3hrs ++
She was very disappointed as her PB was 2hr 40mins, 2006. But I told her that she was brave to have complete it since she never had a proper run since Dualthon in May. Me too, I did not ever train for it....But we are glad!!! After collecting the medals and goodies bags, she complained about hunger, we left the venue to have our breakfast at Chomp Chomp market, A good plate of 'mice pork mee', 'Roti John' and 2 glasses of ice-milo 'peng'. serve as a good reward. Then is shooping time!!!
